On Monday, April 18th, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit upheld the NFL’s $1 billion concussion settlement. The settlement, originally approved by U.S. District Judge Anita Brody in April 2015, mandates payments of up to $5 million each to former players who have been diagnosed with select neurological disorders. A number of players objected to this deal, as it does not provide for future victims of the degenerative brain disease commonly known as CTE.
