Legal Newsline reports that Macy’s is facing new cases in a class action lawsuit that alleges it deceived customers by inflating the thread counts for its bedding and linen products. Cases have been filed in Ohio, Massachusettsa and California.
In the most recent case filed, the complaint was filed January 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio against Macy’s Inc., Macy’s Retail Holdings Inc., Macy’s West Stores Inc. and Macys.com, alleging breach of express warranty, fraud and other claims. The plaintiffs seek restitution, a trial by jury, interest and all other appropriate relief. They are represented by Bruce Steckler, Stuart Cochran and Kirstine Rogers of Steckler Wayne & Love in Dallas.
Bruce Steckler believes Macy’s deception was part of a “scheme” to boost sales and increase profits. He anticipates they may be many more of these cases filed across the U.S. by consumers who were deceived by Macy’s misleading product information.
